Alexandra Merritt Mathews is an actor, singer, director, and writer based in New York City. Did someone say Renaissance Woman? She was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and she remains an avid and humble Bills and Sabres fan. She received her MFA in Acting from The New School for Drama, and she received her BA in Comparative Literature from The University of Chicago (yes, where fun goes to die). She is best known for PLATH/HUGHES (Sylvia Plath), an original musical about Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath.

Film/TV credits include “Law & Order,” "Homicide City," and "Dwelling."

Alexandra is also a passionate educator! She spent ten summers teaching musical theatre to children ages 8-18 in Buffalo. At Nichols School, she founded Curtain Up!, a summer musical theatre program for teens, where she served as Director and Choreographer for five years. She offers coaching in Voice and Speech, Dialects, and Scene/Monologue Study, so feel free to reach out if you’re interested!

Fun Fact: Alexandra played trombone for ten years and she still likes to toot her own horn from time to time!
